Lionel Messi Leads Inter Miami to Their First-Ever MLS Cup Victory
Inter Miami claimed the MLS Cup after a 3-1 victory over Vancouver in the final Saturday night at Chase Field.
Inter Miami went ahead on an own goal by Edier Okampo in the eighth minute, and Vancouver evened the series at 1-1 when Ali Ahmed scored in the 60th.
Inter Miami added the second goal in the 70th minute on a sequence involving De Paul, left back Marcos Acuña and Messi, who laid off for De Paul's long-range finish. Finally came goal number three from Tadeo Allende in minute 90+5 which was also assisted by Leo Messi.
This is Inter Miami's inaugural U.S. Open Cup championship crown in club history.
