Mohamed Salah: Someone Doesn’t Want Me at Liverpool… I Deserve More Respect

Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, Liverpool player, ended the mystery of his future with his team, which has reached a standstill since he sat on the bench in the previous two matches and did not participate today during the match against Leeds.

“In press conferences I have been asked about any problems with [Klopp], and I have always said no, but the story is still out there. I don't know the reason. I suppose someone doesn't want me in the club.”

He went on: "I am very disappointed. I have paid a really high price to be at this club and everyone knows that over the years, especially last season. I'm not sure why I'm on the bench. Lately I just feel overlooked by the club. That is how I feel."

He added, “And frankly, I do not find this acceptable. I don’t know why this keeps happening to me: ‘They throw Mo under the bus’ because he’s the problem. I’m not the only I don’t know if, am I the problem?

“I called my mom yesterday; she had no idea I wouldn’t start today in the lineup. I knew that. I said 'come to the Brighton game (next week), it doesn't matter if I play or not, just come down.' We will see what happens, in my opinion I will enjoy it anyway because I do not know what is going to happen … The match will be at Anfield, so that is part of my farewell before going to the Africa Cup of Nations.”

I give a lot to the club and I deserve more respect than that. I'm not in month three of a fight for my place, it's something I've already earned [and deserve] to play.' People will say: ’You are telling me that you are bigger than the club’, but I never say that. I am just not higher than anybody even though I have given what qualifies me to get the position.”
